The white people didn't like Ruby going to "their" school.

The white kids parents took them out of school and refused for their kids to participate in a multi-race school.  Of course she had guards and the marshal escourting her so she did not get injured or harmed by going to school and getting a better education.  They would stand out side the school and protest with signs and shout protest things at the school leaders.  They would also shout things at Ruby while she entered and exited the William Franz School.  They would even threaten her with things like poisoning her and hurting her when she passed by.  They would holler and scream offensive words and sayings.
